Develop, publish, and implement a new National Dementia Strategy
Since the national dementia strategy published under the 2010-2015 Government, we have no dementia strategy in this country.
We want the Government to set up a working group to develop, co-produce through consultation with academics, lived, care professional, and third sector experts a new long-term national dementia strategy.
Across Europe, many countries have national dementia strategies, which can help channel funding into this area, support people with dementia and their families, and highlight the need for workforce training and support as well as research. Without a national dementia strategy, we think we are severely lagging behind in prioritising a condition which is a public health priority (WHO). To effectively provide the care and support that is required, we think a top-level strategy needs to be in place.
