Enshrine the durability of electric goods in law.

It is common knowledge that the lifespan of electric goods such as washing machines has decreased along with the price.Short term this may be good for the consumer.Long term there is extra cost to the consumer and the environmental cost of having to manufacture and dispose of products with a shorter lifetime is a burden the tax payer shouldn't have to bear,neither should future generations.

I propose to enshrine in law that products such as washing machines should have a minimum life expectancy of 5 years to protect both consumer and environment.
