Petition Action

Referendum on UK sovereignty over the Chagos Islands.

Petition Details

We call on the Government to hold a referendum on the transfer of UK sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. We believe the Government should consult the public on continued UK sovereignty over the Chagos Islands.

Additional Information

We want the Government to ask the public whether they believe that transferring sovereignty over the Chagos Islands is in the best interest of the United Kingdom. We believe the Government should state the case for transferring them to Mauritius, which we believe has no legal claim over the islands, along with the details of any agreement.
