Restrict the sale and use of fireworks to licensed users only. "Roxie's Law"
To review all existing fireworks policy with the goal of restricting the sale and use of fireworks to licensed users only. Illegal sale and use of fireworks should come with a heavy penalty. This is in order to protect the wellbeing of animals and vulnerable people in the UK.
There have been several non-official petitions calling for greater restrictions on fireworks to protect the wellbeing of animals and vulnerable people. The death of Roxie the baby red panda at Edinburgh Zoo, scared to death by fireworks, is a clear illustration of the need for change driven by a petitioning for a mandatory government response. "Roxie's Law" will pay tribute to the tragic loss of Roxie's life and make a profound difference to the wellbeing of all animals in the UK.
