Ensure Disabled Residents Can Access Their Own Homes
We urge HM Government to enforce s.36 and Schedule 4 of the Equality Act 2010. Some landlords are not currently making reasonable adjustments to communal areas when critically needed, leaving disabled residents vulnerable and at risk of injuries.
Bringing these provisions into force would require landlords to make reasonable adjustments when needed, ensuring safety and independence for disabled UK residents. We believe that as the population ages, accessibility issues will grow, straining NHS resources and putting lives at risk.
