Make hoverboards legal to use on public roads and footpaths

Petition Details

Many people own hoverboards but are not able to use them on public roads and footpaths. I call on the Government to make it legal for people to use hoverboards in these public spaces.

Additional Information

Section 165A of the Road traffic act 1988 concerns the ability of the police to seize and remove motor vehicles being driven/ridden on public roads without insurance or without a valid driving licence for that type of vehicle. Hoverboards cannot be insured for public use. Additionally, some hoverboard users are children, who cannot acquire a driving license.
