Petition Action

Introduce wipeable seats on London Underground tubes & TFL buses

Petition Details

Introduce plastic/vinyl or wipeable material seats on London Underground tubes & also buses.

Additional Information

TFL is very dirty & a way of improving hygiene in London is changing the material of the seats to vinyl/plastic so the seats can be easily cleaned by domestic staff & also commuters can wipe down the seats themselves if they choose to. The fabric seats are very, very dirty and spreads dirt/germs to commuters & clothing, causing/spreading illnesses. Poor hygiene also affects people with conditions such as OCD.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about seats on London transport are a matter for TfL, not the UK Government or Parliament.
