Petition Action

Contesting the seat of the Speaker of the House of Commons at the next election

Additional Information

Currently the constituents of Buckingham are effectively disenfranchised by the convention that the constituency of the Speaker of the House of Commons is not contested by the main parties. We request that the convention is removed to ensure that the voters of Buckingham are able to exercise their democratic rights to vote for candidates from all parties.

This is important for any voter in the country who could be effected by the same situation if their Member of Parliament was selected to be Speaker.
