Propose a national referendum on the future sovereignty of The Chagos Islands.
The Government intention to relinquish sovereignty to Mauritius was not mentioned in its most recent manifesto.
Therefore it should ask the electorate directly whether we agree to give away our land and to fully understand the implications of such.
It is currently part of our national control and therefore we need to fully understand the potential future strategic security, economic and social implications of relinquishing it.
It is only right that we democratically engage in something that could have fundamental consequences for our and our allies future security.
