Fund free public transport for diagnosed autistic people

Petition Details

I would like people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to qualify for free use of public transport. I think this should require a verifiable diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and should be a physical item like a bus pass.

Additional Information

Some research suggests that autistic people may face particular areas of difficulty when driving. They are also more likely to be unemployed and can face particular issues accessing public transport. I believe that free public transport would make commuting more viable for autistic people, increasing their employment and quality of life. Around 700,000 people are diagnosed autistic in the UK, so I don't think the cost of this will be that high year to year.
