Broadcast General Election Debates
We the undersigned:
Recognise the value of General Election debates in enhancing the democratic process, ahead of any personal party allegiance;
Note current e-petitions on the subject that appear motivated more by party allegiances, or would not produce the changes required ahead of the 2015 General Election;
Call upon government to enact legislation, ahead of the 2015 General Election, to require:
Domestic Broadcasters to broadcast, in a timing and manner to be agreed amongst themselves, at least 3 such debates during the Election campaign;
Every debate to be freely accessible on-line and via terrestrial television and radio;
The structure, nature and content of each debate be a matter for the broadcasters without requiring the agreement of political parties; and
Participation in such debates by party leaders would be determined solely by the proportion of seats contested by the party (ie 33% of seats = 1 debate, 66% of seats 2 debates, 100% of seats 3 debates)
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
