Petition Details

End Politicians claiming Heating Allowance, as they are paid enough to enable them to pay this expense themselves.

Additional Information

Government have withdrawn the Heating Allowance for pensioners due to a £22 Billion black hole. The Government states that it cannot afford to pay Pensioners the Heating Allowance. Therefore the Government are not able to pay Heating Allowance to highly paid public service Members of Parliament.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
