Place a cap on individual and third party donations to political campaigns.
We call on the government to take immediate action to introduce stricter caps on political campaign spending. Large contributions can distort the democratic process, disproportionately amplifying voices of the wealthiest individuals, undermining equal representation.
Contributions should be capped at £10,000 and loopholes closed to preserve election integrity. With American and other foreign billionaires threatening to interfere in our election processes, the Electoral Commission has called on the government to reduce the likelihood of foreign interference in British politics. Current limitations fail to address the influence of companies who can spend significant sums and influence elections simply because they have an incorporated company in the UK.
