Scrap the title of "Lady", for spouses of men who are made "Sir"!
I want the government to acknowledge that we live in 2025, now, and that women are equal to men! When a woman is made a "Dame", their spouse doesn't gain a title, but when a man is made "Sir", the woman becomes a "Lady", which while nice for the woman, shows that men are seen as superior, still!
To demonstrate equality, and to move with the times - a lot of same sex couples, exist, nowadays! Many divorces, occur!
Only the person who is honoured, should gain a title, female or male!
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
The Government and Parliament are not responsible for the conventions on modes of address for the spouses of people awarded honours.
