Assess the lengthy wait times for gender affirming care on the NHS
Look into the structure of NHS gender services and why it takes years from referral to get an initial appointment. Discuss the strain on the NHS and how gender services need to be upgraded to accommodate growing number of patients
Research shows that trans and non-binary people have higher rates of suicidal ideation and low moods, the NHS targets an 18 week wait time yet in places such as Exeter it can take 99 months for that initial appointment. The system needs to be rethought and the government needs to take action to help people.
