Reform political funding to stop our democracy from being "bought"
Restrict political donations to those from private individuals only, who are registered voters who have a National Insurance Number. Cap the maximum annual donation anyone can make at one twelveth of the median UK salary the previous year.
Over the past 15 years and beyond, too many wealthy individuals and companies have effectively been buying influence by donating vast amounts to politicians and political parties.
Companies are duty bound to act in the best interests of their shareholders, and giving funds away to politicians is clearly not in the best interests of shareholders unless you're genuinely expecting something in return - which is bribery, pure and simple.
