Recognize Nowruz as a Cultural Celebration in the UK
We, the undersigned, call upon the UK government to officially recognize Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, as a cultural celebration in the UK calendar, alongside other cultural New Year celebrations such as Chinese New Year.
Nowruz, a historic celebration, marks the Iranian New Year and the arrival of spring. It is observed by diverse communities, including Iranians in the UK. As a secular event, Nowruz fosters unity and cultural exchange. Recognizing Nowruz in the UK, as done in the US, would honor Iranian heritage and promote inclusivity and diversity. Recognizing Nowruz as a cultural celebration in the UK calendar would promote inclusion and encourage cultural harmony among communities.
