Ensure that Local Elections continue to be held by the end of a regular term.
Ensure local government elections continue to be held no later than by the end of a regular term so that elected officials may govern by democratic consent.
Councils applying to postpone ballots due to financial concerns or to prepare for political changes have already failed and need replacing now
Local Councils are voted in to serve for a term and have a mandate to represent the people by the fact that they have won in a democratic election.
The political landscape changes over time so it is imperative that elections continue to be held within the expected timeframe allowing the people to choose who they want to govern so those who are selected to govern have a mandate to so.
Delaying elections deprives the people of their democratic right and replaces democracy with dictatorship.
