Petition Action

Credit files - the public should not pay and they should be updated hourly

Additional Information

We urge the government to regulate the credit companies and credit agencies so that credit companies are obliged to update the files that the credit agencies hold every 24 hours (and not once a month which seems to pan out to once every 3 months in some cases) and for agencies such as Equifax, Experian and Call Credit not to be allowed to charge us for accessing information about ourselves, similar to health records. We would also like to be able to immediately amend our records, rather than wait 1-3 months to get inaccuracies amended and only be charged a maximum of of £5 a year (rather than £15 a month on a rolling basis that is difficult to cancel.)
