The Sperrin Mountains (Northern Ireland) is a national park; preserve & protect.
By recognising The Sperrin Mountains as a national park opens up opportunities for local business, in an historically underfunded region, to develop, thrive and provide valuable insight to how to manage, preserve and protect similar ecosystems globally.
I urge this government to define it's commitment to the natural environment. Nothing less.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Your petition is about something that the Northern Ireland Executive and Northern Ireland Assembly is responsible for.
In Northern Ireland, the designation of land as a National Park is the responsibility of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), which is advised by the Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside.
If you want to raise this issue you could raise it with the Northern Ireland Executive.
You can find contact details for the departments of the Northern Ireland Executive here: www.nidirect.gov.uk/contacts/government-departments-in-northern-ireland
