Hold a national referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty
There remains significant debate over the potential return of the death penalty particularly in the case of the most serious crimes. The decision to reinstate such a significant and irreversible form of punishment should be determined by the people of the United Kingdom through a democratic process.
By holding a referendum, the UK Government would allow the public to express their views on this critical issue, ensuring that the country's approach to justice aligns with the will of its citizens. A referendum would allow for open debate and a fair examination of all arguments for and against the death penalty, ensuring a decision made by the people, for the people. The UK Government must respect the democratic principles of our society by giving the public a voice in this important matter.
