Make a driving retest every 2 years mandatory for people over the age of 70.
I’d like the government to have the DVLA change the law on licence renewal for people after the age of 70.
I’d like the government to action this as there are many elderly people who simply, cannot drive, wether this be due to poor eyesight or whatever you have it, their driving abilities are likely to be impaired by this point. Many elderly people don’t choose to surrender their license, and due to this are a hazard on the roads, to all drivers, however if the DVLA are forced to change their policies to have licences renewed every 2 years WITH a retest, this would help keep the public safe on roads.
