Residual private pensions should not be subject to inheritance tax.
We call upon the chancellor to reverse the decision to subject residual private pension savings to inheritance tax..
This is because the beneficary pays income tax on the funds that are bequeathed to them. This means double taxation which is grossly unfair.
This recent decision will also discourge people from saving into pensions at a time when too few people are saving enough for their retirement and therefore are putting more burden on the state.
