Review NHS Policies relating to surgery for transgender people
The government must protect vulnerable individuals and ensure NHS funds are used responsibly. We demand a full review of policies regarding surgery for transgender people to alter body parts associated with biological sex, looking into patient safety and medical integrity.
We urge the UK Government to conduct an urgent review of NHS policies on surgery for transgender people to alter body parts associated with biological sex. We believe this review should look at patient safety, medical ethics, and responsible resource allocation. It has been reported that more than 1,000 patients a year have trans chest surgery on the NHS.
We think this review should look at safeguarding, medical justification, responsible NHS spending, and transparency of policies.
