Teach Basic Sign Language in all UK schools.

Petition Details

I think as part of the schools curriculum BSL should be taught instead of other languages.

Additional Information

In the UK alone, it is estimated that there is 50,000 children that are deaf/hard of hearing. That is 50,000 children that can not communicate with individuals who are not part of the deaf community.
It is unlikely that our children will need to use languages such as Spanish and french in their life time. However, it is highly likely that they will come across numerous people who are deaf.
