Create a specific offence to prevent harassment of people breastfeeding
The Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005 makes it an offence to prevent/stop a person feeding a child milk in a public place.
In England & Wales The Equality Act states it is discrimination to treat a woman unfavourably because she is breastfeeding. We think this is insufficient protection and that the law in England is not enough of a deterrent. We feel the current law leaves mothers vulnerable.
