Make Basic Life Support an Essential Part of the National Cirriculum
Basic Life Support (BLS) is an important skill in which everybody should be competent to at least a basic level.
Currently, people are only trained in how to perform BLS if it is a mandatory part of their training (e.g. medics, nurses, paramedics) or if they volunteer, and often pay a fee, to learn in their own spare time.
The government needs to address this issue and ensure that every child has been taught BLS before they leave full time education.
The basic training would not take long to learn but it would be an invaluable use of time, helping to save many peoples lives in the long term.
