Security & intelligence agencies should be subject to FOIA 2012
According to the MI5 website "The Security Service, along with the other security and intelligence agencies, is not subject to the Act and therefore does not process FOIA requests" (MI5, 2005).
In light of the recent child abuse scandals within the British government and intelligence services, we the public request that the intelligence services should be made to process Freedom of Information requests without exception.
It is a national security risk and a risk to the general public to have government agencies working outside of the public eye. For the safety of the public against rogue members of the intelligence services we believe it is of utmost importance for the public to have access to information held by the security services.
