Establish Iraqi consulate in Cardiff to improve accessibility for the community
The Government should work with the Iraqi authorities to set up a consulate in Cardiff, providing essential consular services such as document processing, passport renewals, and legal assistance.
Many Iraqis in Wales and surrounding areas struggle to access consular services due to distance, travel costs, and overcrowding in London. A Cardiff consulate would ease these challenges, improve service availability, and ensure equal access to essential documentation and support.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about where to seek to set up Iraqi consulates are a matter for the Iraq Government, not the UK Government or Parliament.
We also can’t accept petitions that request action at a local level.
You could ask your MP to take action on your concerns about this issue, including by asking them to present a public (paper) petition about this.
You can find contact details for your local MP here: members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP
And you can find out how to ask your MP to present a public (paper) petition here: www.parliament.uk/get-involved/sign-a-petition/paper-petitions/
