Require parliamentary supermajority for certain overseas military action & bases
Prohibit UK military action in conflicts outside of Europe where NATO is not collectively engaged as an alliance unless: a) A direct threat to the UK is established, and b) A Parliamentary supermajority (e.g., two-thirds of MPs) votes in favour.
Require Parliamentary supermajority approval for: a) Each overseas military deployment outside of NATO-led operations, and b) The establishment or continued operation of UK military bases beyond NATO territories.
We think real strength lies in restraint and diplomacy and that military action fuels instability—it doesn’t stop it. We request Parliament draw the line, and enshrine these safeguards in law through a Sovereign Defence Doctrine and Armed Forces Act reform.
