Review regulations on Battery Energy Storage Systems

Petition Details

Review the regulations on Battery Energy Storage System systems, including how close they can be built to homes, schools and hospitals, and rules around safety.

Additional Information

These systems have a fire risk due to thermal runaway.
The fires can be self-sustaining and may last days.
Burning Battery's release hydrogen fluoride which can cause lung damage, severe burns and death.
There is an explosion risk from this type of battery
We think we need a minimum distance from the population, strict fire laws should be mandatory and all communities should be consulted.
