Stop the Proposed PIP Reforms That Will Harm Disabled People
1. Withdraw proposed PIP reforms outlined in the Green Paper.
2. Maintain direct financial support rather than reimbursement schemes.
3. Agree an independent, fair, transparent, evidence-based assessment of disability benefits.
4. Involve disabled people in policy decisions affecting them
???? PIP fraud – Government data from the DWP (2024) reports a 0.0% fraud rate.
???? Mental health – 70% say the PIP assessment process worsens their mental health. (Disability Benefits Consortium, 2023). Disabled people 3x more prone to suicide, with PIP stress a key factor to mental decline. (University of Glasgow, 2022)
???? Proposed changes strip disabled people of independence – The replacement of cash with refund schemes, deliberately create barriers to aids, and add needless bureaucracy
