Amend Law so Definitions of Man & Woman Include Transgender and Intersex People
We want the Government to amend the law so that legal definitions of “woman” and “man” are inclusive of transgender and intersex people, and not restricted to biological sex. We think this would ensure full legal recognition and equal protection for all under the law.
We think the Supreme Court ruling limits legal recognition of transgender people and reinforces the exclusion of intersex people by defining legal sex solely as biological. We believe this risks impacting rights, protections, and access to services, and that the law must reflect the diversity of its people and protect all citizens equally, regardless of sex characteristics or gender identity. We think a narrow, biology-only definition risks setting a harmful precedent and undermines the UK’s commitment to equality and human rights.
