Rescind the Supreme Courts ruling on the 2010 Equality Act

Petition Details

Ether parliament should rescind the ruling or create new legislation to ensure trans women and trans men are able to use services that match their identities.

Additional Information

The Ruling is unenforceable without violating the privacy of cis and transgender people. It has set a dangerous precedent and has failed to explain what will happen to people who are intersex. The term ‘biological woman’ is flawed. It leaves a lot of questions like are transgender men expected to use the women’s restroom or compete in women’s sports despite having testosterone levels of a cis man?

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

The UK Government cannot change court judgements but can introduce new legislation about this.

We already have a petition open calling for the Government to amend the Equality Act to define the terms woman and man not based on biological sex.
