Any legislative or judicial review must consult the groups it impacts
We think there are numerous recent examples of a lack of consultation on significant changes that impact groups of people. We think it should be law that any such significant changes are first consulted with 3 bodies that represent that group(s) before a change is made.
Welfare shakeup (18.03.25), Cass review (April 2024), and Changes to NI (13.11.24). All of these and more changes or rulings have impacted sets of people but we think their consultations were not sufficient. Although ONS may contribute to the report, it may not take into account lived experiences, niche problematic areas that we think need further definition or areas that just haven't considered. We think this creates further work and doesn't allow groups of people a voice in changes impacting them.
