Require people on Universal Credit & fit to work to take a public sector job
We urge the Government to require those fit to work and claiming Universal Credit to work a public sector or community role. We believe this could provide valuable skills, reduce benefit dependency, and help address critical staffing shortages across public services.
We want the Government to enact this policy because it could benefit taxpayers by ensuring their contributions support meaningful work and reduce long-term welfare dependency. We believe it could strengthen the economy by increasing the workforce in vital areas like healthcare and public services, and address staffing shortages while promoting self-sufficiency among claimants. We believe this approach invests in people, boosts productivity, and eases pressure on stretched public resources.
