Put Patience in the National Curriculum
For too long now we have been the silent sufferers of agonising waits, delays and queues.
In our world today of increasingly sophisticated technology and instant access to information have we lost the ability to wait and be patient?
We need a change to our National Curriculum to provide
the adults of tomorrow with the tools to stay calm and find peace within even the most trying situations.
Too often we are subliminally taught to be first: run the fastest, write the fastest, answer the question first. We need to teach students that taking the time to find the right answer, even if it takes longer than everyone else, can be more rewarding than always coming first.
We, the undersigned, believe that these principals, if taught in schools could also apply to the students' perceptions of stressful, trying situations, even outside the school gates.
