We ask that the 10-year ILR rule not be applied retrospectively.
We urge the Government not to apply the 10-year ILR rule retrospectively. Skilled Workers came under a 5-year promise and planned their lives accordingly. Changing rules mid-way is unfair, disrupts families, and breaks trust. Apply changes only to new applicants.
We want the Government to act because applying the 10-year ILR rule retrospectively is unfair and deeply destabilising. Many Skilled Workers are close to eligibility under the 5-year rule and have built their lives here. Families planned their futures, children's education, and finances expecting settlement and security. Changing the rules now creates stress, uncertainty, and disrupts long-term plans. It breaks trust in the system and threatens the stability we’ve worked hard to achieve.
