Reject 10-Year ILR Proposal for Skilled Worker Visa Holders in Critical Sectors
We ask the Government to reject the proposed extension of the ILR qualifying period from 5 to 10 years for Skilled Worker visa holders, especially those in critical public service roles such as veterinary medicine, healthcare (Doctors, pharmacists and dentists) tier 2 visa holders
Extending ILR to 10 years punishes skilled workers who already contribute significantly to the UK. As a veterinary surgeon, I serve a profession facing national shortages. This policy risks worsening recruitment, disrupting public services, and deterring global talent from choosing the UK.
This country is now my home — I care deeply about its animals, people, and future.
