Protect 30% of UK Waters by 2030 – and Make It Real
Deliver its commitment to protect at least 30% of UK marine areas by 2030 by:
• Ending destructive activities such as bottom trawling in MPAs
• Enforcing protections with clear rules and effective monitoring
• Publishing a transparent roadmap for full and effective protection of its MPAs by 2030
The UK was among the first nations to back the global 30x30 goal, establishing many Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Currently over 90% of MPAs still suffer from destructive practices like bottom trawling. These areas aren’t truly protected and we need that to change.
Further action is required to protect marine ecosystems to safeguard biodiversity, support coastal communities, and helps fight climate change.
This petition seeks to give a voice to young people in the UK and thier communities.
