Require all shops in England to sell alcohol in a separate, screened area
I call on the UK Government to introduce legislation requiring all supermarkets and retailers in England to only sell alcohol in a clearly separated and screened area.
We believe constant alcohol visibility in stores can trigger relapse and distress for those recovering from addiction or struggling with mental health. We feel this measure would not restrict access for the general public but could help support vulnerable individuals, reduce harm, save lives, and ease pressure on the NHS and mental health services. It’s a simple change which we believe could have a meaningful impact.
