Petition Action

Review the application of KYC checks at online casinos

Petition Details

Urgently review enhanced Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for UK online gambling operators. One study suggests current implementation has created a 522% increase in black market gambling, pushing vulnerable players to unsafe and unregulated sites.

Additional Information

Some academic research shows KYC checks exclude vulnerable groups, and that affiliate sites have seen a marked decrease in online searches for licensed online casinos since the new KYC checks. Trends show growth in "no KYC casino" searches since 2023. Many self-excluded gamblers now access the black market. We believe current policy creates a two-tier system: privileged access regulated sites, working-class may face unregulated risks. We believe evidence-based reform is needed urgently.
