Petition Action

Let people claim DLA past age 16 if caring for a non-Gillick Competent adult

Petition Details

Give the option for those who care for individuals with Severe, Profound, Complex Needs the option to remain on Disability Living Allowance beyond the age of 16. We believe this is needed due to ongoing issues with PIP reform

Additional Information

Since its introduction, PIP has caused undue stress, financial hardship, and harm to many disabled people and their families due to what we see as a flawed assessments and a point-based system that does not adequately reflect the complexities of many conditions. The reforms could increase the flaws in the system and carers rely on DLA to support these children, and will need to continue to support them throughout adulthood.
