Data Privacy - Reduce the exorbitant HMRC personal validation requirements when making contact over the phone
In my experience with HMRC, I have become increasingly frustrated with their demands for exorbitant personal details by which to confirm my identity.
Whilst I fully understand the importance of authenticating a person’s identify, my strong opinion is HMRC has breached its stated authentication validation checks and is exploiting the opportunity to validate/update the data accuracy of details held.
I propose HMRC, once an initial validation has been performed, create a 'personal/unique reference', known only to the individual, to be used in all future contact with HMRC.
