Petition Action

Introduce a legal maximum workplace temperature and heat mitigation measures

Petition Details

As UK heatwaves worsen, staff must often work in unsafe high temperatures. Unlike the legal minimum, there’s no set maximum. We call for a legal max (e.g. 30°C, or 27°C for strenuous work) and mandatory measures like air con, ventilation and cooling breaks to protect workers’ health.

Additional Information

UK heatwaves are getting worse, yet there’s no legal max working temperature. Workers face unsafe heat, risking health and productivity. We need a sensible legal limit and measures like air con or breaks to protect people’s safety as our climate warms.
