Petition Action

Require MPs and Lords to answer children's questions in a live debate

Petition Details

We ask Parliament to hold a livestreamed debate before each election where MPs and Lords answer live, unscreened questions from children and young people. Questions wouldn’t be shared in advance and would be moderated only for legal/safety reasons on social media platforms.

Additional Information

We think this would promote youth political engagement, improve accountability, and give future voters the chance to question those in power directly. The event could be delivered through collaboration between Parliament’s Education Service, broadcasters, and major online platforms. We think this would help ensure impartiality, secure moderation, and wide reach. The process should involve no political filtering of questions, only legal and safety moderation.
