Hold a National Referendum on Proposed Changes to the Minimum Voting Age
Put in place legislation requiring approval by means of a national referendum for all future legislation to extend or restrict the demographic permitted to vote in national and local elections.
The franchise to vote is fundamental to the democratic process. Numerous factors affect that right, including age, nationality and incarceration. Changing that franchise represents a critical change to the democratic process of such basic importance that it should be the subject of extensive debate, both in parliament and nationally. Given that such changes may represent a significant advantage to one political party or persuasion, the decision must be made not by parliament, but by the people.
