All hospital departments and GP surgeries should be open 24/7

Under the current system resources are wasted and A&E departments are put under pressure as the rest of the NHS is not open at all times.

The demands and expectations of a twenty-first century society require a 24 hour service.

To provide the extra staff required, a more flexible approach to the working hours of NHS personnel could result in more joining, staying within and returning to the workforce and the contracts of Doctors and Consultants should be revised so they work more "unsociable" hours.

The Government should address this problem and legislate to provide an "open all hours" NHS.
