The future of historic churches in the United Kingdom
The future of historic churches is the biggest heritage crisis facing the UK. These churches are not just places of worship; they are repositories of the UK's architectural & artistic heritage. Their loss could mean the disappearance of centuries of cultural memory unless proactive steps are taken.
Historic England has released new research which shows that there is strong public support for preserving the nation’s historic churches. This was even the case among people who are secular or who do not attend church services.
We call on Parliament to urgently debate the future of the UK’s historic churches and the growing heritage emergency threatening these irreplaceable cultural and community assets.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do, as a debate would be the outcome of a petition that reaches 100,000 signatures.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
