Petition Action

Ban isolation rooms/booths in schools

Petition Details

Ban isolation rooms/booths in all schools immediately. Replace punitive isolation with trauma-informed, therapeutic behaviour support. Mandate national monitoring and enforcement. Prioritise children’s mental health and rights under UNCRC Article 28.

Additional Information

We believe isolation causes severe psychological harm and disproportionately targets vulnerable children, such as those with SEND, or those who are neurodivergent or in poverty, deepening inequality. Evidence confirms it worsens behaviour long-term and we think it breaches safeguarding principles. With many children affected annually, we think urgent legislation is needed to prevent trauma and uphold their right to safety
